Frozen peas and instant noodles

Lately, I’ve been very busy with work. Even though I last had Remicade only 3 weeks ago, I’ve been pushing so hard that I’ve had to have 2-hour naps right after breakfast for the past 2 days. Considering how much work I have to do, there isn’t much time left to do things that I would normally like to do — even practical things, like cooking.

I recently discovered that I can eat frozen green peas without getting sick, thanks to the otherwise annoying side effects of the iron supplement I started in the fall. The nice thing about frozen peas is that, well, you can eat them right out of the freezer. They’re also low in salt, unlike instant noodles and sardines, my other favourite instant foods.

Back in my 20s, when I was working on my Ph D, and married, I would generally stop working around 5 pm in order to cook dinner — usually multiple dishes made from scratch. It was a fun break and it was nice to share a meal. Now, 10 years later, I’m literally eating sardines out of the can and frozen peas most nights, then watching shows on the internet because I’m too tired to go out.

Life is strange.
